Title: How do I optimize Coverage-area-control?
The Coverage-area-control parameter is optimized as follows:
In ap-config mode, Coverage-area-control indicates the TXpower of beacon and probe response frames, and is used to control the APcoverage area and optimize STA access and roaming effects. When a high beaconpower is configured for an AP, and the coverage area is excessively large, remote association or roaming stickiness may occur on STAs, resulting in a lownetwork speed. Different APs have different default powers. Typically, thedefault power is 20 dBm for an indoor AP and 27 dBm for an outdoor AP. For details, see the hardware installation manuals.
Note: If the Coverage-area-control parameter is not adjusted, it is subject tothe power local parameter bydefault.
When optimizing the Coverage-area-control parameter, notethe following:
In scenarios with simple buildingpattern and evenly distributed AP installation positions, distances, andcoverage areas, use two APs to test the proper Coverage-area-control value. In scenarios with complex buildingpattern and largely different AP installation positions, distances, andcoverage areas, start the test from small powers first. For example, set the 5GHz beacon power to 15 dBm and the 2.4 GHz beacon power to 7 dBm. Then, adjustthe power for APs one by one.
The configuration commands are as follows:
AC(config)#ap-config ap-name
AC(config-ap)#coverage-area-control20 radio 1 //Configuring the TX power for management frames.
