What Are Similarities and Differences Between BFD and DLDP?

Similarities:
Both BFD and DLDP can detect whether the communication status of a link is normal.

Differences:
1. DLDP uses ICMP packets for detection whereas BFD uses BFD packets for detection.

2. DLDP is a stateless detection protocol,in which DLDP does not need to be configured at the peer end. BFD is a stateful detection protocol, in which both ends must support BFD and are configured with BFD, and BFD packets are transmitted to detect the link state only after successful negotiation between neighbors.

3. After detecting a link communication failure, DLDP only sets the protocol state of the link to down to achieve route convergence whereas BFD associates with upper-layer protocols (including but not limited to routing protocols and Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP))to achieve fast route convergence.
