does configuring VRRP means that the 2 gateway has the same configuration, im receiving a notification of duplicate IP which is the default gateway.

Hello sir,
In VRRP, both gateways will get the same virtual ip, but in one project you can only put one gateway, so the duplicate ip should not be from the other VRRP gateway, you may click alert detail and check the duplicate devices by the MAC of them.

Does VRRP also cover authenticated client? I mean when the Master Gateway is down does all the clients will still remain connected or they need to relogin again on the captive portal.

As confirmed, when the Master Gateway is down, clients will not be connected and they need to authenticate again.
