Title: NBR-6210 & RAP 2260
Edited by Josep Soler at 2024-10-30 17:48
Hello,
I currently have a project with an NBR-6210-E router and two Reyee RAP-2260 APs with 3 Gb capacity. The router is configured as a load balancer for two 1 Gb FTTH lines, and the APs are managed through the cloud. The issue I’m facing is that the maximum download speed I can achieve is only about 350 Mb. When I connect the AP directly to the FTTH router, I can reach 950 Mb.
Both the router and the APs are updated to the latest available version. The router is set up with its minimal and basic configuration, without enabling Smart Flow Control or any additional firewall or similar configurations.
Could you help me understand why I am not achieving the maximum download speed with this setup?
Thank you for your assistance.

Dear,
I drew a topology diagram for you.
Can you tell us whether the download speed of 350M is from the wireless terminal or the AP monitoring on the cloud?
If it is a wireless terminal, you can refer to the following troubleshooting aspects:
1.AP 's uplink wired port bandwidth is insufficient
2.RSSI value is low
3.Low Wireless Negotiation Rate
4.High channel utilization
5.The distance of the test device test is inappropriate
6.AP configuration incorrect
Notes:
When performing speed test, it is recommended that the test device should be connected to the 5G SSID
and the number of clients who connect to the AP at the saame time is 1-3, then the speed test result will
better.
Ensure that the test device is always within the coverage raange of the AP
Ensure that there are no non- WLAN interference sources on the test site, such as microwave ovens,
Bluetooth, microwave therapy devices, etc. Such devices will affect WiFi signals, causing wireless
connection abnormalities.

Dear Ruijie team,
In response to your inquiry, I would like to provide additional details regarding the speed issue I am experiencing:
• The download speed of 350 Mbps is obtained from the wireless terminal.
I have considered the troubleshooting aspects you mentioned:
1.
AP’s uplink wired port bandwidth is insufficient:
• I have confirmed that the wired port provides adequate bandwidth. When I connect my PC directly to the NBR’s G0/0-0 or G0/0-1 port (where the AP is usually connected), I achieve speeds close to 1 Gbps.
2.
Low RSSI value:
• The RSSI signal level is optimal, at -45 dB or better, in all tests conducted.
3.
Low wireless negotiation rate:
• The negotiation rate is consistent and appropriate, aligning with the equipment specifications.
4.
High channel utilization:
• I have manually tested the least occupied channels and also applied automatic optimization, without significant improvements in speed.
5.
Inappropriate test device distance:
• The test devices have always been located at a distance of 2-3 meters from the AP, within the optimal range.
6.
Incorrect AP configuration:
•
The AP configuration has been thoroughly reviewed. I have tested both with the power in automatic mode and manually set to 100%.
Additional Notes:
• The tests have always been performed while connected to the 5 GHz SSID.
• Only one client was connected during the tests to ensure full coverage and minimize interference.
• It has been verified that there are no non-WLAN interference sources in the test environment, such as microwave ovens, Bluetooth devices, etc.
Key Observations:
• Direct connection to the NBR: When I connect my PC directly to the NBR, I achieve speeds close to 1 Gbps.
• Direct connection of the AP to the FTTH router: If I connect the AP directly to the ISP FTTH fiber router, I also reach speeds of 1 Gbps.
• Connecting the AP to the NBR: When connecting the AP to the NBR, the download speed reduces to 350 Mbps.
Since both the AP and the NBR work correctly separately, I suspect there may be an incompatibility between the AP and the NBR when used together, possibly related to the firmware.
With over 30 years of experience as a network and WiFi engineer, and having implemented numerous successful projects with Ruijie-Reyee equipment, this is the first time I have encountered this type of problem.
I would appreciate your assistance in resolving this issue.
Sincerely,

Dear Ruijie team,
In response to your inquiry, I would like to provide additional details regardi ...
Hello! We suggest that you first check whether the firmware version has been upgraded to the latest version.
Besides, high channel utilization will affect wireless experience of clientsYou can view the current utilization of AP 's radioin Cloud .You can view the current utilization of AP 's radio in Cloud.
Idle: 0%-59%
Busy: 60%-79%
Overload: 80%-100%
If the device is launched in the cloud, you can view thechannel utilization rate in the device list.
If the above measures fail to resolve your issue, we recommend that you come to Rita(www.ruijienetworks.com/rita). We will arrange for a senior engineer to discuss the matter with you in depth.

Thank you for your response and for reviewing the test results.
As I mentioned in my previous message, the tests were conducted in a controlled environment, with no other Wi-Fi devices connected to the network besides my own computer. Therefore, I can confirm that there was no load on the network during testing.
Regarding firmware and software versions, they are updated to the latest available releases and are installed correctly.
Given that the results remain unsatisfactory, I would appreciate it if an experienced engineer could review the case in detail to identify the cause and work towards an optimal solution.
Looking forward to your response and the arrangement of this technical support.
Best regards,
