This guide applies to scenarios where the AC controller and AP are not in the same subnet, and it is necessary to configure the AP address pool with an option pointing to the AC controller. This article uses examples from the NBS series, S series, and NBF series ReyeeOS system switches to configure DHCP Option settings on the web interface. Configuration Steps
Go to L3 interfaces -> IPv4 Config -> DHCP Option (This guide uses the example of configuring Option 43 to point to the main AC at the NBC device with the address 192.168.1.1.)
The DHCP option is an optional configuration that takes effect globally when the device is used as a Layer 3 DHCP server, and generally does not need to be configured. If no DNS server address is specified, the default DNS assigned to the downstream port will be the gateway IP.
Notes: DNS Server: The DNS server address provided by the ISP. Option 43: When the AC (wireless controller) and AP are not on the same local network, the AP cannot discover the AC via broadcast after obtaining an IP address from the DHCP server. Therefore, it is necessary to configure Option 43 in the DHCP response message on the DHCP server to inform the AP so that the AP can discover the AC. Option 138: Enter the IP address of the AC. Similar to Option 43, when the AC and AP are not on the same local network, Option 138 can be configured to allow the AP to obtain the AC's IPv4 address. Option 150: Configure the TFTP server address option. Enter the TFTP server IP address, which specifies the TFTP server address assigned to the client. Gateway: Set the default gateway or default route IP address assigned by the DHCP server to the client device. The default gateway is the next-hop address for client devices when sending data packets to an external network, responsible for delivering the packets to the destination network.
