Hi/Hello sir
I‘m sorry that we can't provide a specific solution for you based on current information.
Can you help to check the following aspects:
  • Check the previous firmware version of the device
    if this issue happened after firmware version was upgraded,we can provide the old firmware
    to confirm this is the issue with new firmware version

  • May I confirm how did you test the wifi romaing bewteen the EW devices?
    what's the current distance between two devices
If the issue still exists, talk with us again. we would be glad to help you in Community.

downgrading RG-EW1800GX to ReyeeOS 1.219.1821 I see an improvement, let try downgrading RG-EW3000GX PRO.
1. please send the firmware ReyeeOS 1.220.2103 for RG-EW3000GX PRO to "ewwink yahoo dot com"
2. Roaming test (Ruijie app), the distance around 10 meter

As for the version you need, there is no version of 220 for this model, could you please check it again? Is there any upgrade log that you can screenshot for us?erwin weah replied at 2024-6-12 09:56

Hello,
Downgrade the version may cause some problems and is generally not recommended.
May you describe the specific phenomenon of roaming failure? Is the user unable to actively connect to another EW while on the move? Have you checked the user's RSSI value?
May you show me your current test environment and the configuration on the device and let us check it for you? You can take screenshots of the following pages:

According to your requirements, I can send the version you need to your email. But there is no version of 220 for this model, could you please check it again? Is there any upgrade log that you can screenshot for us?

Hi:
EW3000GX PRO can support reyee mesh in all firmware versions.

I found the problem, it is because I used different channel, not firmware update.
After I set same channels for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz the roaming is working great but ping is high and there are packet loss.
Increasing roaming sensitivity help but not much.
The problem must be fixed by your company as soon as possible
because it is against what peoples said  "Channel must overlaps each other to avoid same frequency interference and packet loss" and "The Roaming is based on SSID not Channels"

Hi, erwin weah

Please kindly note that different channels will not affect wireless roaming.
May I please know if the 2 routers are close to each other? If so, could you please try reduce the transmit power to reduce the possibility of sticky roaming?

Best regards,
Jayden

Hi, erwin weah

Please kindly note that different channels will not affect wireless roaming.

Tried different channels with
lowest power (25%) but it has no effect, it switch after very poor quality of signal -85 dbm (6 Mbps) while with same channel it switch in -60 dbm (200 Mbps)

Hi erwin weah,
Generally speaking, channels won't affect the roaming and same channels will worse the wifi experience. But if it works better when they are in same channels, please set the same channel for time being.
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to you.

Even you're agree about the channel, but why this is still happen, did you report it to the software development?
I do alot testing and here what I've found:
All device using ReyeeOS 301
Wifi Roaming totally not working
Master EW3000GX-PRO (OS 301) - Slave EW1800GX-PRO (OS 219)
Roaming work:
EW1800GX-PRO <---> Modem <---> EW3000GX-PRO
Roaming not work: because EW1800GX-PRO won't switch from wireless repeater to access point
Modem <---> EW3000GX-PRO <---> EW1800GX-PRO
Roaming With different Channels: Not Working
Master EW3000GX-PRO (OS 220) - Slave EW1800GX-PRO (OS 219) # (factory default)
Roaming work:

EW1800GX-PRO <---> Modem <---> EW3000GX-PRO

Modem <---> EW3000GX-PRO <---> EW1800GX-PRO
Roaming With different Channels: Not Working

Conclusion:

- Newer firmware ReyeeOS301 is not for mesh system, do not upgrade to that version.
- For both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz The Mesh System with different channels is not working for Ruijie Devices
