1. First, ensure the device model and version support the Mesh function. The device models that support this feature are as follows: RG-EW1200R; RG-EW1200; RG-EW1300G; RG-EW1200G PRO;RG-EW1800GX PRO; RG-EW3000GX PRO; RG-EW3200GX PRO; RG-M18 and RG-M32. 2. When configuring Mesh, the primary router needs to have completed the initial configuration, and the mesh router needs to be in factory default settings. If the secondary device has been configured defore deployment, it needs to be restored to factory settings (reset on the web interface or press and hold the reset button for more than 5 seconds). 3. Please place the mesh router closer to the main router (next to each other or at a distance of 1-2 meters) to ensure that, when the mesh router connects to themain router, the signal strength is above -70 dBm. You can test the signal strength by installing Wi-Fi Moho, a Wi-Fi testing tool, on a mobile phone held at the location of the mesh router. 4. If the signal strength is sufficient, ensure that the Mesh function has been enabled. 5. When the mesh router is in factory settings, try pressing the Mesh button on both the primary and secondary routers at the same time. 6. When the mesh router is in factory settings, try to configure the Wired Repeater (Access Point mode) first by connecting the WAN port of the secondary router tothe LAN port of the primary router. After the wired mesh is successful (that is, the secondary router can be seen in the repeater list of the primary router), disconnect the WAN port of the secondary router, and the Wired Repeater will automatically switch to the Wireless Repeater. Note: It is recommended to avoid radar channels when setting the 5G channel of the main router (the radar channels include 52,56, 60, 64, 100, 104, 108, 112, 116, 120, 124, 128, 132, 136, 140, 144). If the 5G channel of the main router is a radar channel and detects a radar event onthe current channel, due to the DFS (dynamic frequency selection) mechanism, the main router goes silent for some time and this causes the wireless meshconnection on the secondary router to wait before it can be restored. 7. Check whether the device’s firmware version is the latest. After upgrading to thelatest version, reset the secondary router and try again.
