Greeting!

We are now informing you of issues related to the license activation deadline of the RG-WALL 1600 series next-generation firewall, and hoping this information will provide you with references to avoid losses.

  • License validity period
A license activation deadline is labeled on the back of a license envelope, as shown in Figure 1.

Table 1 lists the involved license model for the RG-WALL 1600 next-generation firewall.

  • License expiration handling
If a firewall license involved in "Clause 1" is not activated before the deadline, you will receive an email upon your future activation, notifying that the license has expired. In this case, you may contact Ruijie's technical support center for.

The technical support center will handle this license issue based on provided license information in a way listed in "Clause 3” in one work day, or will notify you by phone, email, or another manner in a special case incurring untimely handling.

  • License expiration handling principles
  • Target to be handled: Licenses and hardware devices are in a one-to-one correspondence relationship, that is, a license is based on a single device. If an order covers multiple devices, you need to enumerate the licenses of the devices one by one.
  • Number of activatable licenses: Assuming that the number of licenses purchased for one device is M, and the year difference between the activation application time and the activation deadline is N (a period less than one year is considered as one year, a period greater than one year and less than two years is considered as two years, and by analogy), the license validity period is D = M – N. If D ≤ 0, the license cannot be activated.
  • License validity period after the activation: The validity period of a reissued license starts from the day of activation, which is D year starting from the day of activation.

  • License expiration handling cases
Case 1:
Customer A wanted to activate three RG-WALL 1600-S3600-LIS-1Y licenses for one RG-WALL 1600-S3700 device on October 20, 2019, but the RG-WALL 1600-S3600-LIS-1Y licenses had expired on April 1, 2019.
In this case, M = 3 and N = 1, and the validity period after the activation is D = 2, that is, a license with a validity period of two years can be activated for the device, with the validity period starting from the day of activation.

Case 2:
Customer B wanted to activate three RG-WALL 1600-S3200-LIS-1Y licenses for one RG-WALL 1600-S3200 device on October 20, 2019, but the RG-WALL 1600-S3200-LIS-1Y licenses had expired on April 1, 2018.
In this case, M = 3 and N = 2, and the validity period after the activation is D = 1, that is, a license with a validity period of one year can be activated for the device, with the validity period starting from the day of activation.

Case 3:
Customer C wanted to activate three RG-WALL 1600-S3600-LIS-1Y licenses for one RG-WALL 1600-S3600 device (device 1) and activate one RG-WALL 1600-S3600-LIS-1Y license for another RG-WALL 1600-S3600 device (device 2) on October 20, 2019, but the four 1600-S3600-LIS-1Y licenses had expired on April 1, 2019.
In this case, M = 3 and N = 1 for device 1, and the validity period after the activation is D = 2. In addition, M = 1 and N = 1 for device 2, and the validity period after the activation is D = 0. Therefore, a license with a validity period of two years can be activated for device 1, with the validity period starting from the day of activation, but no license can be activated for device 2.


This notice takes effect on January 1, 2020 and a further notice will be released on Ruijie's official website upon any changes.
