Edited by CTO Nexo at 2023-6-21 05:50 Hello everyone, I am about to deploy a network tomorrow, today I have received these units: This is the core switch: RG-S5310-48GT4XS-P-E This are the access switches: RG-S2915-10GT2MS-P-L . Datasheet Check "order information", you will see the SFP compatible modules. The ones I got from my provider are: XG-SFP-LR-SM1310 10GBASE-SR, SFP+ Transceiver (1310nm, 10km, LC) I don't mind the running at the lowest speed, since the SFP ports on the 2915 are 2.5Gbps (future upgradeable to 10GBps) Could I use them on both switches? If not, which ones could I use? I will be using OM4/OM5 LC-LC cables no more than 300m Waiting for your advice, Kind Regards, |
XG-SFP-LR-SM1310 can be used on RG-S5310-48GT4XS-P-E, but cannot be used on RG-S2915-10GT2MS-P-L. You can refer to this module: MINI-GBIC-SX-MM850 As for the other modules, you can check on the datasheet of the two devices, as long as the module can be found on both datasheet, that is both devices can be supported. Here is the linke for you. GTAC-Micca replied at 2023-6-21 09:44 Thanks for confirming. Another question... Since the 2915s have 2.5Gbps SFP ports, are these the only 2.5gps modules it admits?: "BIDI optical modules must be used in pairs. If GE-SFP-LX20-SM1310-BIDI is used at one end, then GE-SFP-LX20-SM1550-BIDI must be used at the other end." On the other hand, why states that can be upgraded in the future to 10GBs? via firmare? |
CTO Nexo replied at 2023-6-21 16:13 Dear sir Since the 2915s have 2.5Gbps SFP ports, are these the only 2.5gps modules it admits?: --->The 2.5G fiber ports of the switch are compatible with SFP transceiver modules and backward-compatible with 1000 Mbps. On the other hand, why states that can be upgraded in the future to 10GBs? via firmare? --->In the furture, it will support 10G SFP ports by upgrading the firmware. Best regards Jenny |
