[Trouble shooting case]POE can’t power for PD devices

Step1:  Switch are managed switch or UnmanagedSwitch

S1800 series and ES100 seriesswitch are unmanaged switches

Reyee-switch can’t use commandto check either

Step2:  Replace cable and interface

After replacing cable can work well

---cable issue

After replace interface or switch can workwell,

---unmanaged switch hardware issue

---Reyee managed switch, checking web configuration，if POE enable normally but can’t POE out,hardware issue.

---RGOS switch keep checking

Step3：Collectthe POE interfaces status and check whether the powersupply are enough

Using the following commands to collectinformation:

show poe interfacesstatus

show poe powersupply

show log

Using the following commands to solve issue

Ruijie(config)#poe legacy

Ruijie(config)# poe modeenergy-saving   // need to power off restartthe switch or can’t work

Forexample

Problem1: All POE interfaces status are off, but power overload

Reason: may POE chip over voltage

Solution：Try with the following commands, if still can’t, hardware issue

Ruijie(config)#poe legacy

Ruijie(config)# poe mode energy-saving   // need to power off restart the switch orcan’t work

Problem2: POE interface power for PD unstable

Reason: low port voltage

Solution：Try with the following commands, if still can’t, hardware issue

Ruijie(config)#poe legacy

Ruijie(config)# poe mode energy-saving   // need to power off restart the switch orcan’t work

Problem3: XS-S1960-10GT2SFP-P-H only can power for 5 devices

Reason: the PSE total remain power isn’t enough,cause there are three class 4 POE+ port.

Solution: if the PD devices only need POE,change the Power management mode to be energy-saving mode. If need POE+, needto add POE switch or change one.

Ruijie(config)# poe mode energy-saving   // need to power off restart the switch orcan’t work

Step4: After enable legacy, if the POE are working, using the following guide toupgrade MCU to solve this issue thoroughly.

And if the current switch version lower than B12P11 version, pleaseupgrade to B12P11 or later version

Thestep:

1.    show poe powersupply

2.    set switch and PC same network,like 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.2

3.    put tftp server and MCU on samefolder

4.    copy  MCU to switch
