Title: What can I do if I fail to log in to an AP or AC through the SecureCRT software using a cable?
1. If a prompt in red isdisplayed, the connection between the serial port and PC is abnormal.
(1) Choose Start > Control Panel> Device Manager and locate theCOM port. Check whether a correct COM port is selected.
(2) If a USB-to-serial cable isused for connection, check whether the USB driver is installed. Download andinstall Driver Genius to check the installation.
(3) If you have logged in to the AP using a hyperTerminal or other software, disable the software.
(4) If a serial cable is used, the PC port or serial cable may be faulty. Replace the cable or the port andtry again.
2. If a prompt in green isdisplayed after the driver is installed, the connection between the serial portor USB-to-serial port and the PC is normal. The port that connects to the AP isabnormal. Then, check the following items:
(1) Check whether a console cableis inserted to the AP or the console cable is inserted to the LAN port orimproperly inserted to the console port.
(2) Check whether flow control isenabled and causes the preceding blank page or loading page. If yes, disableflow control.
(3) Set the baud rate to 115200and try again. (If garble characters occur after you log in to the AP, it iscaused by the baud rate.)
(4) If the hardware is faulty, the serial cable or console port may be faulty.Replace a console cable or AP and try again. (It is less likely that theconsole port is faulty.)
(5) If the software is faulty, check whether you can log in to other APs using the SecureCRT software. Alternatively, use the hyperTerminal to log in to the AP.
