Title: How do I obtain the MAC address (layer-2 or layer-3 MAC address) of an AP?
To obtain the MAC address of anAP, use any one of the following methods:
(1) View the MAC address from thelabel attached to the AP cover.
(2) Run the show verison all or sho ap-deviceinformation command on the AC.
(3) Log in to the AP and view theMAC address of the physical port. Typically, the AP's MAC address is the MACaddress of the physical port minus 1.
(4) Run the show mac-address-table int gi0/Xcommand on the access switch. Xindicates the interface ID.
Note: An AP has two MAC addresses. One is the layer-2 MAC address, and theother is the layer-3 MAC address. In the AP label and AC online information, the layer-2 MAC address is displayed. In the MAC address list in the switch,ARP information, and DHCP information, the layer-3 MAC address is displayed. Alayer-3 MAC address has one more bit than a layer-2 MAC address.
