Hello there,
I am not sure if I'm missing something but all features of the switch are available only on local network?

Actually can , but you have to manually create the tunnel using intranet feature , provided you're using EG or EW series router / gateway

Yes, that's correct, the ES switch will rely on a device such as EG or AP that is capable of creating a tunnel for it. If the cloud project only contains the ES switch, it will not be able to create a tunnel.
