Title: How to do if the test speed of EW device is slow?
1. Key words

EW, Wireless, Speed slow
2. Issue description
The test speed of EW device is slow
3. Network Topology

4. Cause Analysis

(1) The wireless negotiation rateis low
(2) There is co-channelinginterference
(3) Rate limiting is configured onthe router
(4) The traffic of Intranet usersis heavy, but the bandwidth of the uplink port on the router or ISP isinsufficient
(5) The ISP failed to provide thepromised bandwidth
5. Troubleshooting
1. Slow data forwarding rate caused by low wireless negotiation rate.
Wireless negotiation rate is the speed negotiated by the terminal and AP according to the signal strength, interference, network card capability, etc. In the case of a good wirelessenvironment, the actual wireless forwarding rate is generally 50%-60% of thenegotiated rate, for example, the negotiated rate is 300M, and the actualforwarding rate is about 150M-180M. Therefore, if the wireless negotiation rateis low, the data forwarding rate is also low. You can check the wireless negotiationrate in the following ways:
(1) Check it on router

(2) Check it on computer:

The common reasons of slow wireless negotiation rate:
(1) Channel bandwidth is to small
Small bandwidth causes low negotiation rate, while large bandwidth causes heavy interference. It’s recommended to set the 2.4Gbandwidth as 20MHz and 5G as 40MHz. If you want the test the device performance, please set the 5G bandwidth as 80MHz.  The settings are as followed:

(2) Weak Signal Strength
The transmit power of the router and the distance, and the antennaorientation of the terminal or router all affect the signal strength.
It would be better if the wireless signal strength is above -65dbm.if you want to carry out the equipment limit performance test, the strength isrecommended at about -45dBm. You can view the wireless signal strength in thefollowing way:

If the signal strength is weak, please do as followed:
Turn up the router's wireless transmission power:

Move the test terminal to a position 1-2 meters away from the router, adjust the antenna direction or move back and forth/left and right in the area to find the best position for signal strength.
(3) The terminal NIC is old and doesn't support Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6

2. there is a co-channel Interference
If the negotiated rate is good, but the network speed test is slow, there may be co-channel interference. If the channel utilization is high, it isrecommended to replace the channel  for testing.

3. Flow control is configured on router
If the test speed is slow in a good wireless environment, please confirm whether the flow control is seated on route. If yes, please adjust the limit value or disable flow control function.

4. The traffic of Intranet users is heavy, but the bandwidth of the uplink port on the router or ISP is insufficient
You are advised to test the terminal through a wired port. If the test rate is also low, it may not cause by wireless speed.

Note:
When doing the wired network test, whether the wired network performance oruplink bandwidth is insufficient should be taken into consideration. You canview the WAN port rate during peak hours to check whether the bandwidth bottleneck is reached. If the maximum uplink bandwidth capacity is reached, youare advised to expand the
capacity.

5. The ISP failed to provide thepromised bandwidth

You are advised to directly connect the terminal to the ISP router or optical modem to test whether the test rate reaches the bandwidth promised by the ISP. If no, please contact your ISP.
6. Information Collection
If the problems is still exist, please collectionthe result above and contact Ruijie engineer for help: www.ruijienetworks.com/rita
