Hi I have a client with an AD on their network. I need to set the Ruijie Router's DHCP server to set the DNS suffix to match the domain, e.g. "domain.local". How would one do this? |
Dear sir Do you want to add a static domain name resolution on Reyee EG? if so , Reyee EG can not suppor this |

GTAC-Joy replied at 2023-7-17 21:24 The issue I'm having is that hostnames are not resolving correctly for clients. If I ping a server on the LAN network using their hostname, it appends .lan instead of clientsdomain.local. So if I ping server, it pings server.lan instead of server.clientsdomain.local. I want the router when it's handing out DHCP IPs on the LAN to also set the DNS suffix option that the client uses The property that appears when I check the status of the connection in Windows is labelled "Connection-specific DNS Suffix". I want to change this from LAN to the client's domain |
Chris Abraham replied at 2023-7-17 21:34 Dear sir Sorry for the inconvenience , Reyee EG cannot support this feature. |
GTAC-Joy replied at 2023-7-17 21:52 There has to be a way to do it though. Otherwise you can't use an EG router on any Active Directory network as a DHCP server??? So we can't stop the EG router from adding ".lan" to the end of all the client's device's hostnames? |
Chris Abraham replied at 2023-7-17 22:03 Is there another product you can recommend that would facilitate changing the DNS suffix on the DHCP server? Perhaps a switch that supports DHCP server feature that I can configure the DNS suffix? |
Lebmanx replied at 2023-7-18 16:37 Dear sir Yes , Ruijie switch can support this , you may refer this configuration guide on the page 856 Ruijie RG-CS85 Series Switches RGOS 12.5(4)B0707 Configuration Guide (V1.0) - Ruijie Networks |
