What is POE?

Introduction to PoE:
PoE refers to the technology of supplying power to IP devices such as cameras and APs through Ethernet cables (Category 5 or above). The commonly used international standards for PoE are PoE and PoE+.
POE:
Standard POE, power supply power does not exceed 15.4W, generally requires the power of the powered device not to exceed 12.95W. The voltage is 44-57V. Ruijie uses 48V. The international standard protocol is 802.3af.
PoE+:
Power supply power does not exceed 30W. Generally, the power of the powered device should not exceed 25.5W. The voltage is 50-57V, and Ruijie uses 54V. The international standard protocol is 802.3at.

Application Scenarios and Problems Solved:
This solution mainly addresses the problem of separate wiring for power supply and data transmission of IP devices and aims to establish a universal international power supply standard for POE technology.

The problem is how to solve it:
POE actually uses four cores of the Ethernet cable to power devices. Internationally, there are two standard wiring schemes for POE power supply: 1236 or 4578. The power supply distance is generally not more than 100m.
Our Gigabit PoE switch supports both power supply and data transmission for 1236 four-core cables. The 100Mbps PoE switch requires power supply for 4578 cores and transmits data for 1236 cores.
All Ruijie POE switches support POE/POE+, with a maximum power output of 30W per single port.
