1. Authentication role:

Client: The function is the same.

Access devices: In eportalv1 Web authentication, access devices only perform redirection and receive notification from the Portal Server on whether users can access the Internet. In eportalv2 Web authentication, the access device is responsible for redirection, user authentication, and notifying the Portal Server whether the authentication is successful.

Portal Server: In eportalv1 Web authentication, PortalServer interacts with clients, authenticates users, and notifies access devices whether users can access the Internet. In eportalv2 Web authentication, the Portal Server interacts with the client page, notifies the authentication information of access device users, and whether the users notified by access devices are authenticated.

Radius Server: has the same functions.

2. Certification process:

Eportalv2  Web authentication Migrates authentication from the Portal Server to the access device.

Eportalv2  Web authentication Because the authentication is on the access device, you do not need to wait for the notification from the Portal Server on whether the user can access the Internet.

3. Offline process:

In eportalv1 Web authentication, the Portal Server initiates the end of accounting packets. In eportalv2 authentication, the end of accounting message is initiated by the access device.
