REUP (Rapid Ethernet Uplink Protection) provides a fast link protection function. In dual-uplink networking mode, REUP ensures normal link communication, blocks redundant links, avoids link loops, and provides fast backup. The uplink ports of the REUP are configured in pairs. If both ports are normal, one port is in a backup state. The port in the backup state does not forward data packets. When a port in the forwarding state becomes faulty, the backup port switches to the forwarding state immediately and provides data transmission. In addition, the REUP sends address update packets to uplink devices so that the uplink devices can update MAC addresses in real-time. The REUP function ensures that the Layer 2 data flow can be recovered within 50ms after a link failure. |
