RLDP (Ring Light Detection and Protection) of Simplified Optical 3.0- RLDP Configuration Guide

Original
2.1 Function Introduction
2.1.1 Enable RLDP unidirectional, bidirectional, or downstream loop detection to detect unidirectional, bidirectional, or loop faults.
2.1.2 After enabling global RLDP detection, the RLDP detection for each port can start normally.
2.1.3 After the global configuration, the startup of port detection depends on the successful negotiation of neighbors.
2.1.4 In global mode, configure to suppress loop detection for the specified time period, during which no loop on the downstream port can be detected.
2.1.5 configured with RLDP functionality under the interface, which can be selected as unidirectional, bidirectional, or downlink loop detection types, while specifying the corresponding fault handling method.
2.1.6 All faulty state ports can be restored and detection restarted.
2.2 Configuration Restrictions and Guidelines
2.2.1 For RLDP configuration on AP member ports, if you are configuring loop detection, the configuration will be synchronized to all member ports of that AP, and if you are configuring unidirectional link detection and bidirectional link detection, the configuration will take effect directly on AP member ports.
2.2.2 For the case of joining a physical port to an AP, the loop detection configuration of the newly added AP member port needs to be consistent with the loop detection configuration of the existing member port of the AP. It can be divided into the following situations: 1) If the newly added AP member port does not have loop detection configured, but the existing member port of the AP has loop detection configured, then the loop detection configuration and detection result of the newly added AP member port will be synchronized. 2) If the loop detection configuration of the newly added AP member port is inconsistent with the loop detection configuration of the existing member port of the AP, then the loop detection configuration and detection result of the newly added AP member port will be synchronized.
2.2.3 When configuring RLDP for AP member interface, the fault handling method can only be configured as "shutdown-port" and "warning". If the fault handling method is configured as a non-"shutdown-port" and "warning", it will be converted to "shutdown-port" configuration and take effect.
2.2.4 The "shutdown-port" configured will not be able to recover RLDP detection actively after a failure. If the user confirms that the failure has been resolved, they can use the rldp reset command or the err disable recovery command to restore and restart the detection.
2.3 Configuration Steps
(1) Enter privileged mode.
enable

(2) Enter global configuration mode.
configure terminal

(3) Enable global RLDP detection function.
rldp enable

By default, the global RLDP detection function is turned off.
(4)(Optional) Configure global neighbor negotiation.
rldp neighbor-negotiation

By default, the Neighbor Discovery feature is turned off.
(5) (Optional) Configure the detection interval of global RLDP.
rldp detect-interval interval

By default, the time interval for a port to send RLDP messages is 3 seconds.
(6) (Optional) Configure the time interval for RLDP to recover the status of the faulty ports.
rldp error-recover interval

The default time interval for restoring the fault port status by configuring the RLDP timer is not set.
(7) (Optional) Configure the maximum number of RLDP detections.
rldp detect-max max-detect-number
The maximum number of detection times for RLDP is 2 by default.
(8)(Optional) Configure the global loop detection suppression time.
rldp detect-latency interval

By default, the global RLDP loop detection suppression time is 0 seconds.
(9) Enter Layer 2 Ethernet interface configuration mode.
interface interface-type interface-number

Enable the RLDP detection function of the configured interface.
rldp port { bidirection-detect |loop-detect | unidirection-detect } { block | shutdown-port | shutdown-svi |warning}

In default case, RLDP detection on the port is not configured.
3 Monitoring and Maintenance
You can use the show command line to view the running status after configuring the functions to verify the configuration effects. View the running status of RLDP.
show rldp [ interface interface-type interface-number]
