Hello, I have 3 - RAP2260E APs in my 3600 sq ft home. Used the online survey to layout the APs. I can not roam between the APs. My cell phone, iPad, laptop connects to 1 AP. For example, a device connects to the AP on the 2nd floor, walk downstairs, the device does not connect to the next AP, stays connected the AP on the 2nd floor. I have not tried the mesh option. My concern with mesh, is the decrease in the bandwidth by half switch between APs. Has anyone else experience issues with roaming between RAP2260E APs? |
May you help to comfirm: 1. Whether you enable roaming function? 2. What is the distance between the 3 APs and how do you deploy them? 3. Have you tested how far you can roaming successfully? |
Micca replied at 2022-12-13 10:53 Hello, 1. Whether you enable roaming function? Are you asking if the roaming layer 3 option was enabled? 2. What is the distance between the 3 APs and how do you deploy them? 1st floor about 40 ft apart, 2nd floor to 1st floor about 13 ft 3. Have you tested how far you can roaming successfully? Does not roam, device stays connect to the initial AP |

Micca replied at 2022-12-13 12:01 Hello, I currently have the power set to slow on each AP. |
Mario replied at 2022-12-13 19:33 Would you like to share a screenshot of your configuration? Or you can turn the power of each AP up, depending on your environment. |
Micca replied at 2022-12-14 14:10 Hello, Please review the screenshots. |
Mario replied at 2022-12-18 07:24 You can try to increase the sensitivity of roaming then test again. BTW, may I know whether you want to configure layer 2 or layer 3 roaming? |
